The Seven Habits if Highly Effective People, by Steven Covey is an enhancing book based on personal experiences, and tips or suggestions for how to better our lives.              1. Be Protective.
             2. Begin With the End in Mind.
             3. Put First Things First.
             4. Think Win/Win.
             5. Seek First to Understand .Then to be Understood.
             6. Synergize.
             7. Sharpen the Saw.
In the course of working through these steps, a person goes from being dependent to independent and then on to interdependent. I"m not very comfortable with becoming interdependent, because of some traumatic experiences; I do not like to be alone. I depend on others to make me feel safe. I did spend last summer living alone, and hated every minute of it. I would leave the fan running every night so that I could fall asleep. Now that I am recently married, I am very dependent on my husband for many reasons. One of the many is that he makes me feel protected and safe. I think that it is healthy to rely on the people that are closest to you.
In the future when I become a teacher, I will have to depend on the knowledge that I have learned from my experiences here at Black Hills State University. I will have students that will be depending on me to teach them all that they need to know, and in turn, I will be expecting results from them.
As for my mission statement, I think that I, like many others am having some problems developing it into one statement. Before I can make that statement, I have to look at my goals for my life and my future.
I know that I want to make a difference in people's lives that is why I have chosen teaching as my profession. I want to make an impact on the lives of the children that I teach, and make them feel that I truly care about them as an individual. Also very high on my priority list is being a good wife and mother.
