             In another study (The Case Against Child Spanking At Home: A Study of LACC Students Population by Lutfi Latif Late 1990's), it shows that 58.3% of the males surveyed approved of spanking, while 53.8% of female participants approved of it. The national data also shows about 15% higher approval of spanking in males than in females. (14, page 6) Although, the above general trend is confirmed in table three, a 4.5% difference is not large enough to draw firm conclusions. Regardless that the two studies" numbers are not identical they still show some significance and still conclude that men are more likely to approve of spanking children than women are.
             When cross-tabulating the Sex variable with the Spanking variable in the GSS 96 data file, the chart presents the responses of respondents to the question: Do you agree or disagree that it is sometimes necessary to discipline a child with a good, hard spanking? The chart shows the data as follows:.

             According to the data set, 74.9% of males agree that spanking a child as a form of discipline is sometimes necessary, whereas females agree to spanking 72.
