Standardized Testing

" (Texas Law Limits Use of Standardized Tests in Graduate Admissions, (2). Students can actually reserve for costly SAT test preparation which are available for kids in larger suburban areas their family can afford to pay for their children's best interest. However, from the journal In Student Test Scores, a Wider Gap, an administrative president at Bates College, he believes "there's virtually no access to coaching and testing in some of these minority communities." This explains why minorities have a disadvantage for not receiving much preparation due to their location and financially couldn't afford it. Critics also recognize that numerous blacks and Hispanic students can't afford test preparation class because they come low income families. Financially it is hard for the minorities to encourage taking the SAT without having preparation. This would even discourage the student from taking the test and drop out of school not having the chance for a better and brighter future. This is a big advantage for prosperous families with money to give their children the chance to have a higher score on the test than these minority students. Referring to the journal Tests that Fail Democracy, "poor students from the most gritty and neglected parts of the state are routinely denied scholarships because they haven't learned to master a test that was supposedly designed to even the playing field. Well-off students win thousands of scholarship dollars, despite their financial readiness to attend the most prestigious colleges and universities." This is unequal and unfair for the disadvantaged student when there's a cultural hurdle and yet they don't receive the money they need the most for school. The student without any problems culturally and financially still receives more than enough money for school. There is not much emphasis from the school programs to help minority students to receive the best education than the other vast majority students.
