Steps To Self-actualization

Self-Actualization is the develpment of personal potential. Abraham Maslow, a humanistic psychologist, created a heirarchy of needs. these needs are based on the most basic of needs, such as food and water. yet, they stem all the way to needs of love and acceptance. with every step one takes from the bottom is another step closer to self-actualization.
at the bottom of the pyramid one must start with being physiologically secure. this means haveing food, water, sleep, and air. next, one must feel safe and secure; this means one feels order and stabiltly in their life, and surroundings. the third step is love and belonging. when one can feel love, and feel accepted by others, they can move to the next step. the final step is esteem and self esteem. this means feeling cometent and independant.
when all of these needs are met, one has reached self-actualization. maslow himself said this pyramid is nearly impossible to complete. it is estimated that less than one percent of all people will ever reach self-actualization. this is due to our doubts and fears about our own abilites and potential. hopefully as one ages, they can overcome thses fears, and come as close as possible to self-actualization.
