(A.A.P) Teenage mothers do not have much money so they cannot pay for healthcare. Because of theses problems, pregnancies can go wrong.
There is often the question on whether or not society approves or disapproves of teenage pregnancy. Teen pregnancy is accepted more today than in the past. Teen pregnancy rates are very high in today's society. (Bell) There are many ways society shows it approval of teenage pregnancy. One way, which is the most common, is welfare. Young girls think about money when having children. The government rewards young women who have children out of wedlock by offering her financial support, special attention, and some measures of independence. (Sylvester) For some teenage mothers, having a baby gives them status in society. In today's society, schools are more mother friendly. High schools are now equipped with daycare centers for teen mothers that attend that school. (Bell) By providing these privileges, society only lets teenagers know that it is all right to have children at their age. It is time for society to challenge the complacent view that having a child out of wedlock is simply a lifestyle of choice.
Despite the popular approval of teenage pregnancy within society, there is still a great amount of people who do not approve of teenage pregnancy. "Abortion is often the best choice for pregnant teens." (Reuber) The main reason society does not approve of teenage pregnancy is because of the high abortion rate amongst teens.
