He believed that changes could be made to the .
treaty at a later time, if he could only form his precious league of .

According to Robert H. Ferrell (Germany lost one tenth it's .
population and one eighth it's territory). The worst article of the .
treaty was perhaps article 232, in which the allies actually .
formally recognized that Germany didn't have adequate recourses to .
repay reparation costs. Despite this they went forward and ordered .
Germany to pay.

The treaty limited the size of the German army to 100,000 .
men and declared that the Germans could not possess any military .
aircraft or any naval ships. Huge war reparations were to be .
paid, however the amount was unspecified and therefore the .
Germans were left poor. Huge sums of land were given to France .
and Belgium. Part of this land contained the majority of their .
industrial area. With no industry to create money they could not .
pay back the unspecified debt they owed. There was a triangle of .
money flow, Germany would pay other European countries and they .
would use that money to pay America then America would then pay .
it back to Germany so they could pay Europe.
At the end of the treaty, the Japanese were not appeased, .
later they would take by force what they couldn't accomplish at .
Versailles. They wanted ownership of German ports in China, this .
may sound ridicules and it was. Their requests at the treaty were .
unfair to China; however the idea was entertained and eventually .
denied. The Japanese may have never attacked America if there .
wasn't another war that they knew we had to eventually enter. If .
Japan had attacked us and there wasn't a war in Europe then .
we would have had more resources to fight Japan. The war with .
Japan would have been shorter with less casualties. .

The League of Nations was formed; however America was never .
