            The United Kingdom, or The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, has existed as a group of states since the tenth century. Its official name was given in 1801. Its territories haven't changed major since 1927. At one point the UK controlled over one-fourth of the earth's land mass.
             The United Kingdom is part of Western Europe and is between the North Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea. It is located at the coordinates 54 N and 2 W. it has a total area of 244,820 km sq, which is just slightly less than that of Oregan. .
             The population of the United Kingdom as of July of 2001 is approximately 59,647,790 people. 18.89% of the population is under the age of 15, 65.41% are between 15-64, and 15.7% of the population are ages 65 and over. There are 11.54 births for every 1,000 people and 10.35 deaths. The infant mortality rate of the United Kingdom is 5.54 deaths per every 1000 babies born.              The United Kingdom is very diverse and includes such ethnic groups as: Elglish, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, Ulster, and many more. The UK's major religions are Anglican (27 million), Roman Catholic (9 million), Muslim (1 million), Presbyterian (800,000), Methodist (760,000), Sikh (400,000), Hindu (350,000), and Jewish (300,000). .
             The United Kingdom's agriculture includes cereals, oilseed, potatoes, vegetables, cattle, sheep, poultry, and fish. The UK exports $282 billion dollars worth of manufactured goods, fuels, chemicals, food, beverages, and tobacco every year.
             The UK is a mixture of bustling cities and rural farmland.
