He died on April 2, 1923 supposedly from a stroke of apoplexy. When people heard they were heart broken. They made a day to mourn Harding where no one was to work. But during his presidency many scandals went on that people found out after his death. People made up stories that Harding had a secret child, but no one knew if it was true or not. Also people felt that Harding killed himself. This was a very large scandal that went on during his presidency having to do with the sale of oil. People sold oil illegally at a higher price which they bought it at and then didn't tell there directors about the sale until years later. The sale was over three million dollars. There was a trial because people were taking money from this that wasn't rightfully there's. People suspected that Harding was involved in some and as time went on found out he was. The American people were very disappointed and couldn't believe he did something like that. .
             The Red Scare was a time where production was hard to keep up with, prices were rising and the workers were going on strike because they were unhappy with their jobs. In November of 1919 there were at least one million men and women on strike. It wasn't clear why these men and women were striking. Also, during this time there were alien radicals sending out bombs through the mail. The government wanted to find these radicals and make them pay for what they did. They succeeded in this and they received the death penalty.
             During this time there were many changes that went on. First, was the radio. The first broadcasting station opened in East Pittsburgh on November 2, 1920. Many other radio stations began to form. This was a new break through and everyone could enjoy it. People were listening to music and the news in their own living room. Another invention was the telephone. Also, sports became extremely popular. Babe Ruth was known for his home run record.
