Diddy" Combs, CEO and founder of Bad Boy Entertainment, a pioneering producer, rapper and pop phenomenon, Sean has become on of today's most extraordinary, accomplished and unforgettable talents.
Sean Combs was born on November 4, 1969, in Harlem, New York to Melvin and Janice Combs. Sean mother, Janice was a model and his father Melvin was a well-known street hustler (Sean later found out) who was murdered when Sean was only 3 years old. After his father death Sean mother, Janice move Sean and his sister, Keisha to safer environment in Mount Vernon, New York. Janice Combs worked three jobs to provide the best for her family and the best education for her children. Sean attended Mount Vernon Montessori School and then to Mount St. Michael Academy wher he was part of the football team and where he would inherit the nickname "Puffy" because he would puff out his chest to make it look bigger. At the age of 12, Sean first entrepreneurial skills were exhibited with the success of a paper route. Sean attended Howard University in Washington D.C. and the started working as an intern at Uptown Records in New York City. Sean was very committed to his work which earned him the position from intern to Director of A&R at the age of 19. Later he dropped out of Howard and move back to New York City. In 1991 at 21, Sean helps launch the careers of Mary J. Blige and Jodeci. Sean was promoted to vice-president under the guidance of Uptown CEO Andre Harrell. .
In 1993, Sean was let go from Uptown Records. Sean went on to establish Bad Boy Entertainment. Clients of Bad Boy Entertainment included the late Notorious B.I.G., 112, Total, Faith Evans, and Craig Mack. Bad Boy first major hit came within 1994 with Craig Mack single, "Flava In Ya Ear". In four short years, Bad Boy sold over $100 million worth of recordings. In 1997, Sean released and single, "Can"t Nobody Hold Me Down" that featured Bad Bay new discovery Mase.
