Differences lie between many aspects of American and Indian culture, religion, and economy. While some distinctions are very hard to notice, others will jump right out at you. And on the other end, several similarities lie between the two nations as well.
Some differences are how openly religious India's people are, whether a ceremony is under way, or a naked holy man is walking down the street, it compares greatly to the religious subtlety which takes place here in America. Another is the economy, while the United States is subject to poverty in areas it is minuscule contrasted to the amount in India. In the pictures I saw, India was portrayed as a country with a serious lack of benefits, which most Americans take for granted. For example, I saw in the photographs people having to wash their clothes in what I believe to be the Gange River, one of the most polluted rivers in the world. In other snapshots, I saw that very same brightly colored clothing being worn on women in a very discreet manner, without showing off their legs or shoulders like Americans do, and even wearing turbans to cover up their heads.
However, for all the differences between the two countries, there does lie similarities. For instance, both countries have large cities, and even larger populations, granted India's countries people are much more condensed than Americas, but India is a pretty large country as well, to a great extent more than other Asian countries.
The United States of America and India's differences greatly outnumber its similarities, but that adds character to India. So, even if the Indian people do not have the same conveniences as us, I think I would still enjoy in taking a trip there and experience washing my clothes in the grungy Gange.
