It suggests that the Queen is no longer needed, no even as a figurehead in parliament, and that all that they are worried about is themselves and their greed.
This song contains discourses of politics, humanity, imagination, and concern for human nature, the future, crime, history and nature. Lyrics such as "we"re the flowers in the dustbin" and "no future" show the emotive type of language being used in the song to present their view with the contempt for the monarchy.
The title of the song itself is actually contradicting itself because the song is talking about how the monarchy should be removed where as the tile is "God Save the Queen", this suggests that the title is merely a sarcastic introduction.
An oppositional view to the song is that the monarchy is, "of course" a traditional part of society and has been for hundreds of years, to replace it now would create turmoil for all the counties under the "great British Empire", that has grown through it's imperialistic past. Republicans would use this song to possibly back up their ideas that the monarchy is a potential "H-bomb".
In comparison to each other England 1819 by Percy Shelley and God Save the Queen by the Sex Pistols are very similar. Both incorporate the Romantic ideals such as expressions towards nature, no matter how briefly, but focus on social criticisms even though they may not be the accepted view of the time and they both state that little will be done in the future if the monarchy continues. Another similarity between the two poems is the idea of humanitarianism, and that the poor are marginalised in society because of the monarchy. There is one difference in that God Save the Queen does not so much touch on the religious issues as England 1819 does. .

Discourses within this poem are political, social and moral, showing 18th century London as a place where free expression and institutions such as marriage had disappeared as a result of moral depravity.
