Creating a Society: The Educational Institution

Based on your readings from your text:.
The function of a society's educational institution is to teach the younger generation whatever knowledge that they need in order to succeed as an adult, no matter what occupation they end up taking. This may include the basic knowledge of the sciences, the histories, the languages, math, etc. but also to learn essential "people skills" such as etiquette, group working skills, etc. One of the more obvious functions is to prepare the students for their future occupation. Also, it exists to teach the younger generation the norms and values of the society, as well as train them to be model citizens. It helps to boost nationalism, and aids the development of the society.
             2. One of the major problems that the US educational system has is that the people are not treated equally in education. Minorities do not have as much access to the better educational programs that are offered. Another problem that I see is that the school systems are too lenient to the students. We all wonder why America is slowly falling behind other nations of the world academically. I believe it's in part to the system being a little too easy. In Korea, the students go to school about 4 hours longer a day than those students in America. And they also go to school on Saturdays which leaves Sunday as their only day off from school. But not only do they study longer in school, the moment that their school is over, they go to their respective "academies" where they study even more with tutors. There is also a great gap between the qualities of the private schools vs. the public schools, but many who would want the better private education can't do so because they have insufficient income to do so. .
Identify how your society plans to fulfill each of the identified functions of the institution.
             A. For those who are under 12, the education system would be similar to that of the United States in the modern times.
