Commitment to America

Who will determine the future of America? Some would say the politicians, teachers or pastors. Others would say the businessmen and doctors. While these people would play a part in the future prosperity of our country, the true future of America rests in the hands of the children and youth who will become the leaders, businessmen and women, and teachers of tomorrow. Who will set the correct example for them? Many people have been doubtful of society's ability to teach our future. But the events of September 11 have shown us the worst that humanity is capable of, and since then we have seen men and women at their best, faith in teachers has been restored, faith in each other has risen all over the nation and now our future seems secure. .
America is so often called a "melting pot," with each race of the world represented in a huge, multicolored, and beautiful tapestry. That is why the key factor in keeping America the freest nation on earth is maintaining tolerance for other cultures. America is a home for many peoples; what we become will be determined by whether or not we can remain tolerant. For now, Americans are accomplishing this wonderfully. .
After these tragic events, our country came together as one people to support one another and show the rest of the world that we are not afraid. We showed our attackers that we will not let ourselves be dictated to by a group who will use terror as a means of protest and murder to bring about change. No specific culture was affected; each and every person living in this country, and many from other countries, felt the same emotions, the same anger, sadness, and fear. This helped us to see that we are all the same on the inside. The people of this country no longer belong to the separate categories of "Asian," "African," or "Indian." Each and every one is American. Keeping this attitude of togetherness will ensure that America stays strong.
