Romeo and Juliet Star-Crossed Marriage


            Romeo and Juliet face many conflicts. Throughout the play, they confront differences that affect the outcome of their relationship. A factor in this incidence is the ongoing clash between Romeo and Juliet's families", the Montague's and the Capulet's. This is the greatest conflict created in the story and is a base dispute to others in the rest of the play. The families" hatred towards one another turns into a fight and results in the banishment of Romeo. Because Romeo and Juliet come from opposite feuding families, their relationship is star-crossed to end unhappily. The conflicts created within Romeo and Juliet will greatly affect the outcome of their relationship.
             Romeo and Juliet's backgrounds greatly affect the outcome of their relationship. Juliet is a Capulet, and Romeo is a Montague. Their families fight, and this is how Romeo is banished. The Montague's and the Capulet's families are both alike in social and economic rank, and there is no significant reason for them to feud. Romeo and Juliet's relationship is doomed by fate, foretold in the prologue. This can be seen in the following quote. "From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life.Doth with their death bury their parents" strife. The fearful passage of their death-marked love." (prologue p.673) The quote contains phrases about the lovers taking their lives, and the fearful passage of death marked love. Romeo and Juliet are destined by fate to have an unhappy end to their lives and relationship. Furthermore, other forces of conflict affect Romeo and Juliet's relationship. Romeo and other related Montague's broke out into a fray. Romeo was banished for killing Tybalt. It is implied by Romeo's banishment that the two lovers will not be able to see each other, making the chance of their families" agreement of their marriage nearly impossible. This shows how their relationship is affected by a star-crossed fate.
