Lucille Ball

He informed her of the upcoming role in "Roman Scandals", produced by Samuel Goldwyn. She auditioned for the part and became one of twelve "Goldwyn Girls". She later did a few other roles in movies, becoming more and more popular. She did over 40 movies in six short years. During the filming of "Too Many Girls" in 1940, Lucille fell in love with her co-star Desi Arnaz and married him a year later. Lucy and Desi soon realized that their career and band schedules were conflicting and Lucy filed for divorce. A day before the divorce was finalized, they decided to remain together.
When Lucy was offered her own television show, she agreed to do it, only as long as Desi could co-star with her. The couple thought it would be cute to put on a comedy about a goofy red head married to a Cuban band leader. CBS first refused the idea saying that it would be off the air in a week, and no one would be interested in something like that. Lucy played as herself "Lucy" and Desi played as her husband "Ricky". They went on the road with their own production called Desilu and after the pilot episode, which was an automatic hit aired, they called Lucy and Desi and agreed to sign them. The result was the "I love Lucy Show;" one of the most beloved television series of all time.
I Love Lucy was the very first television show to air a pregnant woman. When Lucy got pregnant with their second child, Dezi Arnaz junior, CBS didn't know what to do because they couldn't just stop the show. So they decided to film her entire pregnancy up until the time she delivered. This is now considered a very famous episode, along with the one where she tells "Ricky" that she is pregnant. Once Lucy and Desi had two children to take care of in 1957, they changed the format of the show so they could be parents to their children. The show then aired once a month for an hour and was renamed the "Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Show". The show ran from 1957 to 1960, during which time the marriage fell apart and television's most beloved couple divorced.
