The Invention Of The Steam Engine


            With the evidence given I believe that James Watt was not fully responsible for the invention of the steam train. Firstly I believe that the invention of the steam train was a joint success. The reason I say this is that the years running up to the event many inventors had contributed to the success of the steam train. .
             The 18th century was one of the most innovative centuries known to man, the birth of mass production. From using horses to water. Without these inventions I believe that it would be almost impossible for James Watt to think up an idea of the steam train.
             In 1698 Dr. Thomas Savery invented the steam pump to remove water from flooded coalmines. Tomas Newcombe had improved this invention in 1712. This is when James Watt to decide it to improve the pump even more. Unfortunately he had no money to fund the material. Dr. John Roebuck had volunteered to help pay for the materials necessary. Although he went bankrupt in 1773.
             Watt took his ideas to Matthew Boulton, a successful businessman from Birmingham. For the next eleven years Boulton's factory producing and selling Watt's steam engines.
             Making the cylinder was extremely hard but with the help of John Wilkinson this could be overcome.
             All these people had a part in the success of the steam engine. With the evidence given I believe that James Watts was not fully responsible for the invention of the steam train.
