Wuthering Heights

Heatheliff returned with wicked plan to take revenge on the Earnshan and the Linton families. Heaheliff took all of their land and money and destroyed these two families. While Heatheliff's plan became successful, Catherine died. That made Heatheliff very sad. At last most of the two families' members died, except the last generation, the daughter of Catherine, Cathy and the son of Hindly, Haroton. Heatheliff achieved his purpose, however, he was no longer happy and died strangely in a rainy morning. Cathy and Haroton got all of their inheritance back and lived together forever.
It is a sad story. When I was reading the book, I felt sorry for the people in it, especially for Heatheliff. Since he was young, his heart was full of hate and worked all his life to revenge. The determination of revenge even made him being so little interested in his lift. He even forgot to eat and drink. Why did he live like a devil instead of enjoying the vest of his life.
The story showed the dark side of human being so genuine. The characters, which are just like us, have weakness and their weakness lead them into unhappiness. The purpose that Mr. Earnshan brought Heatheliff to his family was to let his two children learn to be a kind person. But Hindly was so selfish that he treated Heatheliff so badly and it created Heatheliffá|s hatred. Catherine was full of vanity. Although she clearly understood that her true love was Heatheliff, she still married Edger Linton because Edgerá|s wealth would make her a rich woman.
The background of this story is 18th ~ 19th century. We can realize from the book that people in that period used to have a hierarchical concept. The gipsy people are seriously despised as evil creatures. It was very unfair in that period. .
