             ,Tom and Huck sneaked together to the graveyard to bury the dead cat. Tall grass grew everywhere in the graveyard and enormous trees tangled the oldest graves in their roots. Huck and Tom decided to hide near the newest grave, where Hoss Williams was buried. They sat down and waited for the devils to come. At first, everything was quiet. An owl hooted. Then the boys heard a different noise. .
             By accident, they saw Injun Joe, Muff Potter and Doctor Robinson come there to dig Hoss William's coffin. After they took the body out of the coffin, Muff Potter asked for more money from Doc Robinson. Doc Robison not only refused him, but also hit Injun Joe and Muff Potter. When Muff was knocked unconscious, Injun picked up Muff's knife and killed the doctor. Huck and Tom were so frightened. They ran as fast and as quietly as they could. They both swore they wouldnt tell what they had seen at the graveyard.
             The next morning, Sid told Aunt Polly that Tom had been out almost all night. Aunt Polly was so upset that she told Tom that she had given up on him. Tome felt awful and promised never to go out at night again. Eventually Aunt Polly forgave him and sent him to school.
             Tom and Joe got punished for having cut class the day before. And Becky Thatcher refused his gift the brass doorknob. By noon, the whole town of St. Petersburg knew that Doc Robinson had been killed out at the graveyard. People gathered at the scene of the crime. The sheriff held up a knife and asked Muff Potter if this was his knife. Muff said yes but he couldnt remember anything. Therefore, Injun Joe told the sheriff that Doc Robinson and Muff Potter had been fighting and that Muff had stabbed the doctor. Tom and Huck couldnt believe Injun told such a big lie, but they were too afraid to tell the truth because Injun Joe would kill them for telling on him. Tom felt awful. For two weeks, he had bad dreams.
