Cancun

My boyfriend Juanito and I walk hand in hand up the dusty grassy trail. It is hard to believe that this trail was once the only highway between Cancun and Mexico. Juanito picks me a beautiful bouquet of wild flowers. I take a deep breath and smile. The air is filled with the most peaceful aroma of nature. Sweat pours down my sun touched body. The sun feels good on my face and shoulders. My throat becomes very dry. We sit down on a bench over looking the highway. I rest my head on Juanitos shoulder and wipe the sweat from my forehead. I stare out into the beautiful surroundings.
Our friend Mini comes up behind us, ruining the moment. He sits down beside us. I lift my head off of Juanitos shoulder and look over at Cancun. He looks back over at us. Juanito jumps up and throws a small stone over the cliff to see how far he can throw. Cancun starts throwing stones to compete. Soon we are all laughing and acting silly. It is always fun to be around Juanito and Cancun.
After a few more minutes of resting and having a good laugh we begin to follow the trail again. There are signs on the trail providing us with information about the old Highway. We read every one of them. We spend almost the entire day enjoying a relaxing walk along the trail. This place is special to me because I can sit and clear my mind of all my everyday stresses and take time to appreciate the simple joys of Mexico.
