Terrorism and the War on Terror

It is possible that Osama bin Laden felt his motives were justified as self-defense for the wrongs the U.S. has done to the Middle East. My position on terrorism is that it will always be an unethical approach to prove a point simply because innocent lives will be taken. Right now the U.S. is terrorizing Afghanistan for the terrorist attacks on September 11 when the whole country of Afghanistan should not be held responsible. I feel that when the War on Terror comes to a conclusion, more terrorists will be created and there will be more hatred for America, it's policies and it's people. .

The War on Terror is not a just war. As Andrew Fiala states in the book, 'The Just War Myth; The Moral Illusions of War', there is neither a clear, nor direct threat from Iraq to justify going to war with them except exaggerated claims of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and only hints of Iraq's connection to Al-Queda (12). This war is being fought to defend an imperial agenda orchestrated by the Bush administration in what I believe is to control all of the oil in the world. According to Just War Tradition, there has to be a strong chance for success, war must be driven with right intentions, not self-interested agendas, and it must be proportional as to where the harm done will not outweigh the good. Iraq posed no threat that would justify preemptive war and Saddam Hussein had no ties to Al-Queda. This has been nothing more than a long bloody war on civilians that have already been tortured by war and sanctions. According to Just War Theory, the criterion of "Just Cause" was not met in the decision to go to war with Afghanistan either, since America was a victim of a criminal act and not under a direct attack of aggression; however, Afghanistan is guilty of giving refuge to terrorists that execute acts of terror in foreign countries that resulted in high numbers of civilian casualties. .
The Just War Theory of "Proper Authority" holds that those who lead us into war must have the proper authority to do so (Fiala 12).
