It is his job to correctly identify the applesauce at a rate greater than 70% of the time in the study in order to support his claim that he is an expert.
The experimental method I used to conduct this study is very simple. I am conducting individual test, meaning that I will be providing my test subject, while blindfolded, with one sample of applesauce at a time to see if he can identify the type of applesauce correctly. The next step of this study is collecting the data; this is done simply by writing down the participant's response while conducting the test and then later comparing the participant results to the record of the samples provided.(i.e. writing down the participants results and then going back to identify if they answered correctly or incorrectly). Once the testing phase of the study was completed I will then analyze the data I collected using the five step hypothesis testing method. The hypothesis testing method utilizes the variables provided in the experiment: sample size, the null hypothesis, and the alternative hypothesis to calculate if there is a significant difference between the null and alternative hypothesis in order to prove or disprove the null hypothesis. .
The five step hypothesis testing method goes as follows: first, identify each of my variables including the null and alternative hypothesis (claim); next find the critical value for alpha (α), for this study α is 1.28, and create a z-curve; third, establish my decision rule; four, calculate the my test stats with formula zst=result " H0/sqrt(H0*H0)/sample size; finally, using the decision rule created in step three identify whether the null hypothesis should be rejected. .
