Brabantio believes Othello, has swayed Desdemona with his dark magic, "My Daughter! Oh my Daughter!" She is abused, stolen from me, and corrupted by spells and medicines from the Moor! "(Shakespeare 785.) Desdemona boldly speaks up to her father; "My duty is to the Moor now. "(Shakespeare 791.) .
Brabantio accepts his daughter's decision and joins their hands together, "Come Hither Moor, I here do give thee that with all my heart,"" (Shakespeare 789.) In Act 2 Scene III Iago begins to execute his plan; to make Othello angry at Cassio. He aggressively persuades Cassio to drink and celebrate; Cassio becomes drunk and fights with Montono Othello approaches the chaos. "What is the matter here? Hold for your lives! " Iago speaks up quickly in order to seem convincing, "Good Lieutenant, I do not know, friends all but now, as if all planets have unwitted men- swords out, and tilting one at others breasts" (Shakespeare 812). .
Othello acknowledges Iago's statement of innocence and inquires about Cassio's actions "How comes it, Michael, you are thus forgot? " "I pray you, pardon me. I cannot speak" "(Shakespeare 812). Cassio is very disappointed in himself for fighting Montono. He goes to Iago for advice. "Oh Iago I have lost my reputation! I have lost the immortal part of myself, and what remains is bestile. " (Shakespeare815) Iago deceivingly advices Cassio, "As I am an honest man, I shall tell you good Cassio, what you shall do. Our general's wife is now the general; confess yourself freely to her; use her help to put you in your place again. " "You advise me well Honest Iago. " .
Cassio is completely oblivious to Iago's jealousy and hatred; he actually blatantly tells Cassio Desdemona will "put him back in his place " however, Iago is implying that Cassio will be put back in his place in the army, before Othello promoted Cassio above Iago; one of Iago's motives for his revenge. Iago continues to successfully execute his master plan.
