The Problem with Animal Testing

Some may think that there are no proper alternatives to animal testing but there are many new forms of testing to which are more applicable for human benefit. With new ways to perform these tests and get the results we need we shouldn't have to harm animals anymore. .
Animal testing is an inhumane act; the barbaric tortures we conflict on the innocent animals annually must be abolished. "Each year, more than 100 million animals including mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds are killed in U.S. laboratories for chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing."[http://www.peta.org]Countless more animals are killed worldwide. Animals are snatched out of their habitats and dropped into a whole different world inside of a laboratory. Many are born in the labs and live their life in fear and in pain not knowing what their natural life should be like. Before these poor animals are discarded after serving their purpose to the labs they endure unimaginable pain from having toxins injected into them to having their skin burnt off. Ten percent of the animals tested are not even administered with painkillers. Cosmetic animal testing takes up one fourth of the animals used in experiments. .
There is no reason why animals should have to suffer and die for us to get products to make our lives a little bit better. Medical animal testing takes up mainly the rest of the animals used and although it is more rectifying than cosmetic testing it still must be put to an end. Most of the tests the scientists perform and repeat are unnecessary and barbaric. When a theory arose that marijuana was able to help people with glaucoma experiments on animals began. A chimpanzee was chosen as the subject and scientists then injected two doses of a marijuana filled needle into the chimpanzee eyeball. The chimp screeched in agony. This kind of pain is unthinkable for us humans and this is one of thousands of tests they carry out.
