Digital Nation Response

We see that the food industry is not an organization that can be trusted, they clearly are in it for the profit and not the consumer. .
Consumers must realize this and demand for change from these corporations because will never flip the script unless it is forced to. Johnson stated that "Feedback central to the process should come as no surprise. All decentralized systems rely extensively on feedback, for both growth and self-regulation" (192). The food industry needs its consumers and they know that they are the root of many problems that the cause to consumers. So to get around this they will use the negative feedback tactic to keep everything in check by blaming the consumer, or saying they are changing and will support the "healthy life style" that their consumers demand. Consumers need to see what the food industry is doing, and ultimately demand for it stop.
Consumers continue to eat foods by the food industry that is unhealthy for them for a verity of reasons. As the food industry continues to turn a blind eye to the dangers and consequences of eating their products. Food companies and their scientist are in their labs trying to get consumers hooked on their products and once you're hooked these products can be more addictive than certain types of drugs. Michael Moss in his book, "Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us" provides us examples on how the food industry is trying to get us hooked on their products. Moss stated that, "At Cargill, scientists are altering the physical shape of salt, pulverizing it into a fine powder to hit the taste buds faster and harder, improving what the company calls its 'flavor burst'. Scientists at Nestle are currently fiddling with the distribution and shape of fat globules to affect their absorption rate and, as it's known in the industry, "their mouthfeel." (Moss 78). .
These are prime examples on how the ethical standards of the food industry is not there.
