A Vindication of Women's Rights

Her statement tells women that in order to get what they want [equality] they must change their daily routines and habits. There is just one thing holding women from their full potential - men. Wollstonecraft states, "men who, considering females rather as women than human creatures, have been more anxious to make them alluring mistresses than affectionate wives and rational mothers." Regardless of what women do there will always be men who will continue to degrade and discourage rational, intelligent, and free-thinking women.
Men and women have been coexisting for more than a century now, yet men still degrade women and undermine them. "Men endeavor to sink us still lower merely to render us alluring objects for a moment." This statement that she makes is 100% accurate. Men find women "alluring objects for a moment. When this moment is gone, they simply want nothing more from the women and find them an inconvenience to have around. Wollstonecraft speaks for all the women who have been in this situation, she stands up for their rights and becomes an advocate for those who cannot stand up for their rights. .
It has been over 200 years since this essay was written. Even though it has been so long, some of the points Wollstonecraft makes still hold true today. For example in her statement "women, intoxicated by the adoration which men, under the influence of their senses, pay them, do not seek to obtain a durable interest in their heart, or to become the friends of the fellow creatures who find amusement in their society." Even today in the 21st century, there are women that aid in their own degradation; they allow men to treat them poorly without a care in the world. Just as Wollstonecraft instills in her readers, if these values are not instilled in women then how can they expect to receive respect from men. .
The next argument that she has is that women do not receive the same education as men do.
