You may have a hard time paying attention to one thing and will probably be disorganized, you probably don't appear to be listening to others and you lose everything all of the time. You forget things that you have to do every day, like setting an alarm clock or remembering all your school books. You"re easily distracted by the littlest thing and you hate to do any task that might make you think. You also start several different projects and don't finish any of them and you can't follow instructions. .
             If you are diagnosed with AD/HD, you can't engage in activities with out talking or making noise, you might even blurt out a song. You don't like waiting or taking turns with someone. You can't sit still so you fidget with your hands or feet or any object within your reach. You yell out the answers to questions that someone hasn't even finished telling. You interrupt people not on purpose, but because you just can't help yourself. You never stop talking and you act as if your energy will never run out.
             Because hyperactivity usually diminishes during the teen years, until recent years, it was always believed that children would outgrow AD/HD in adolescence, just in time to go off to college and get a job. In recent studies, they have learned that 75-80% of children with ADD go on to display the same symptoms and behaviors as adults. .
             College students and adults with ADD have almost the same characteristics as children with the learning disorder, ADD or AD/HD. Children with AD/HD often can't sit still in the classroom. They let out their restless energy by running around and climbing over things. Adults and college students with ADD may become nervous or irritated easily by things. They get frustrated quickly by doing simple tasks such as listening in on a college lecture or doing homework. They may let out their restless energy by fidgeting with things, driving fast, and having problems sleeping.
