The Chemistry of Happiness

"I don't get angry," Allen replies, "I grow a tumor instead." The mind and emotions play a very important role in the state of health. Consequently, it's extremely essential for people to determine and spot their emotions and feelings, and to be knowledgeable of the effect they have on another and on their behavior, relationships and their bodies. Emotions flow fluidly when there are no barriers that can stop them from being freely expressed and experienced. Meanwhile, repressed emotions can terminate mental energy and lead to health problems especially when they are negative ones. Emotional disturbances and disorders lead to poor performance of body activities and brings down the immune system making a person more vulnerable for infection, also leads to metabolic illnesses like diabetes.
Negative feelings for instance, chronic stress, from negative attitudes and pessimistic feelings of discouragement and helplessness can disturb the body's hormone balance and drain the chemicals present in the brain that are essential and required for the feeling of happiness. New scientific research has also reached the conclusion that chronic stress can actually decrease people's lifespan by shortening their telomeres (the "end caps"" of the DNA strands, which play a big role in aging). When anger and feelings of enmity are repressed they also become related to an abundance of negative health conditions, such as infection, cardiovascular disease, digestive disorders and hypertension. Negative feelings generally are found to cause heart attacks, cancer, back pain, change in appetite, and chest pain. Not only that, but also constipation or diarrhea, dry mouth, insomnia (sleep disorder), sexual problem and sweating. In addition, negative feelings cause palpitations (heart racing), shortness of breath and stiff neck. .
Positive attitudes in the meantime such as love, gratitude, serenity, connection and interest have a straight influence on people's health and wellbeing.
