Freedom of Speech

It has always been said that everyone has his or her freedom of speech. Contrary to this statement a lot of music acts has been banned from performing on stage and their albums have been banned from stores. I think differently because of how the censorship bureau has taken extreme efforts to ban hip-hop music and the distribution of it. "How can covering children's ears solve serious social problems like violent crime, racism, or suicide? If suppressing creative expression were the way to control anti-social behavior, where would you stop? The main source of inspiration most frequently cited by criminals has been the Bible" (Popular Music Under Siege 3). Most of the early problems with censorship were in the early 1950's. The 90's are the most controversial decade dealing with the censorship of music. The rap group "2 Live Crew" was the target for the censorship bureau in the time. The groups lyrics weren't as violent, but more explicit. The album "Me So Horny" was illegal to sale in couple of states like Alabama and Florida. In the 90's rap music was taking all the heat for music censorship. Rappers such as Ice-T, Public Enemy, and N.W.A. were getting the majority of the heat in the hip-hop industry. I know most of the people noticed that censorship is a big part of the music industry these days, but are they fair is my question. .
Music is an art form that should be expressed and embraced, not shunned and banned. Censorship of music in America exists in a big way and is blatantly destroying the rights of the American people to enjoy the art that is music. When a person walks into a museum and sees a nude painting or sculpture, no one tries to ban that. When the censorship bureau says that musicians has the freedom of speech and can say what they want, that really means say what you want only if we like it. Don't get me wrong I"m not saying that the censorship bureau is totally wrong, but just too strict on certain types of music.
