The United States Post World War II

.
Advertisers appealed to the morality of buying now paying later rather than spending all your money at once which created a sense of guilt. As the youth turned into teenagers their taste grew more expensive, instead of cheap little toys they wanted cameras, TV sets, and phonographs which were more expensive than the average toy. Teenagers were costly to parents at the time, spending currency on big appetites, on trying to look their best, the massive entertainment culture, along with homemaking products for those who got wed at an early age. The baby boom generation began to introduce materialism, a peril of mass culture that exists today because materialism is cycle that can only be stopped by a drastic event, it won't end on its own. The cycle is as that more stuff is invented with intent to sell and constant advertising persuading you to consume along with the youth helping with persuasion, as the youth gets older the cycle continues. This cycle still exists in the United States today, many other countries without a vast materialistic view stereotype America as materialistic and many Americans are.
As materialism and the boomers increased veterans who were new parents were forced to adapt to the changes of a society. When kids were born, families would need a place to live like a house; Suburbs outside of cities were built for families to be raised in. The houses were mass produced and cheap for new families, they all looked the same and the inhabitants of the community shared similar values. Parents financially had to adapt to the needs of kids, the bills of a house, and materialism. White collar jobs seemed to be the answer; although the jobs help provide for families it took away the significance of working. White collared jobs replaced guilds because of the mass need of employment. Guilds along with artisan workers have significance because they physically create something and are able to show it to everybody.
