Waking Up to Dunkin' Donuts

I have dealt with 5-6 customers waiting in line, but I have never dealt with a line that went out both doors to the store. We quickly called all of the employees from the back. The customers kept coming and coming, at one point I was going to stop and give up but I knew that I had to keep going and finish taking everybody's order. We worked like a well-oiled machine; we had two people at the cash register, two people at the coffee station, and two people at the sandwich station. Next thing I know the line started to disappear. There was one specific customer that I had to interact with and at first she sounded really nice but then when I made her coffee she started yelling at me. I asked her what was wrong and she told me, "The coffee is too hot and you didn't even put French vanilla on it." I thought to myself, the coffee is supposed to be hot. On another note the customer could ask for an extra shot of French vanilla and a couple ice cubes to cool it down so she could drink it, but no she just had to yell so loud and make a ruckus. But luckily she was the first customer that came right after rush hour. Earlier that day I was carrying a box with coffee bags in it and I slipped on a couple ice cubes and fell forward right on my knee, but it didn't seem to bother me at that time. On a more positive note, I helped an older man carry eight dozen donuts to his car and he also gave me a ten dollar tip. As I was walking back into the store I felt a sharp pain, reminiscent of being stabbed with a needle, attacked my knee whenever I bent my leg. Even though I had an injury I still had to help my employees. My positive mindset helped me excel through a massive rush hour crowd. Not only did we get rid of the line, my leg really did not bother me as it did earlier that day. But the importance of having the right mindset doesn't only apply to working. I've found out that confidence also sews seeds of success in other areas of life.
