Privacy is the term which has many meanings but in a general, it is 'the right to be let alone' (Thomson, 1975, p. 295) that more deeply something is belonged to one, the choice of sharing or not is individualistic decision. Disappointingly, the right of privacy has not an equal understandings in all societies. The concept of sexual activity like gay or lesbian marriage, bigamy, et al. is accused of shameful acts in conservative societies. In these societies, the education system is also prepared to force children to obey rules without releasing them to learn to think. In all consequences, Rand deduces that "Civilization is the progress toward a society of privacy. The savage's whole existence is public, ruled by the laws of his tribe. Civilization is the process of setting man free from men". Thus, Rand defends civilization can help the countries, societies, households and individuals to develop their selves. As the benefits of civilization are seen in many areas, also it could increases the right of keeping something secret in the daily life. Although Rand's ideas are negotiable, his statements are valid because the correlation between privacy and civilization is positive as ones increase, the other increase as well, and the more civilized societies equal to the more opportunities to protect privacy.
First of all, civilization and privacy are integrated in the same direction like some says that privacy is improvable as civilization increases and others state that privacy comes from the instinctive human behavior and it is inborn and those seems to be two separated ideas but it cannot be totally true by saying those are separated. Though the notion of privacy can be changeable in every culture, societies has to have their own privacy. As the side of parents, rambling around room to room without dressed may have no meanings in primitive societies but for modern societies parents take care of this attitude more cautiously because they can think that their bodies are also in their private issues (Westin, 1967).
