Stalin was angry when he heard about this. When France heard f this they wanted to be involved, USA, Britain and France now have all put their countries together and called it Trizonia. Stalin was really furious about this because he thought that people will start moving to the East.
In election throughout Eastern Europe the USSR rigged the election and also used violence to make sure communism took control over Eastern Europe. Winston Churchill was no longer the British leader. He made a speech in March 1949 that it was as if a Iron curtain has descended across Eastern Europe. A Iron Curtain has descended across condiment. Stalin put people who were against communism into prison or killed, the elections was rigged the voters were intimidated. By 1948 communist governments controlled Poland, Albania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romina Czechoslovakia and the Russian Zones in Germany. Truman say all of this and decided to do something about it and also made a speech called the Truman Doctrine.
USA was concerned by the USSRs actions in taking over Eastern Europe. George Keenan warned USA that the USSR was determined to spread communism. So in March 1947, Truman mad a speech stating that if any country is in danger f being taken or by communism or is took over by communism that America will step in with money and military help. This speech is called the Truman Doctrine. America wanted to stop the spreading from one country to another, which is called the Domino Theory. In Trumans speech he argues that the world is divided into two camps- capitalist camp and communist camp. The capitalist camp is free but the communist camp isnt. To make sure the world is a free world the USA would use their economic and military strength.
For ages it was argued that Communism only gained support because of the economic conditions at that time was bad. Truman was scared that people who were desperate n Europe would turn to communism.
