To understand the concept of popular geopolitics it is imperative to know what popular geopolitics means. Geopolitics is the relationship one country has with another at a government or head of state level. In other word it is the relation between nations. Geopolitics does not have anything to do with the citizen's individual opinions. It includes the leaders and the country as a whole. On the other hand, popular geopolitics is what the citizens of one country think or how they view another country and it's citizens. Arguable today, society is not traveling or sitting in a class learning about another country's location, citizens, cultures, etc. Rather they are creating a label out of the popular entertainment. Majority of people are getting their news from more entertaining shows that present their news in a more opinionated and entertaining way rather than valid and informative shows. The entertaining shows include Saturday Night Live and Chelsea Lately. Competition is to blame for the cause of news sources being more entertainment than informative now a day. Competitors try their best to capture the audience attention with what society likes and with what is popular. .
People use what they see or hear off of popular entertainment to characterize countries. It is not about the validity of the information. Most of the themes presented of a country tend to be repetitive and many times the information is used to characterize a region, not just one country.
