Everyday your local news and morning papers bring all types of horrible stories of the crimes that have been recently committed in the local area. Of course, you may be the judge of someone actions, but where does theses negative actions derive from? Crime is a huge problem and is an event that occurs all over the world. The more risk factors an individual has, the higher risk of their involvement in crime. There can be many different causes of crime, such as a person's belief in the systems of law, negative influence, committing crime to gain wealth or just simply committing a senseless crime on poor impulse control. The widespread of poverty and the lack of education is the cause of crime.
One reason why poverty is the cause of crime is because most of all people living in poverty is due to low-income and high unemployment rate. Poverty drives people to do all kinds of things in order for one to survive. Poverty affected people usually turn towards crime to alleviate their problems as it is the fastest way to get some money. When people with lower income are having difficult times in their life and when obtaining money through committing a crime will put them at a benefit, they are willing to do it. Poverty and lack of education are usually thought to cause crime because making an attempt to rob someone for money, or break into someone's house for variables is a way of overcoming their disadvantage. In the article "What causes crime?" Don Weatherburn points out "Studies have examined the experiences of particular individuals generally find that individuals at the lower end of the socioeconomic status scale are more likely to participate in crime." Also a similar pattern of findings has been obtained in relation to longitudinal studies of the absent of a higher education (Weatherburn).
People who are exposed to financial and social stress are more at risk of developing bad behaviors such as alcohol, drug abuse and peer pressure.
