Equality in the Workplace

Women began with domestic jobs as wives with working around the house. In the early nineteenth century, women transitioned from domestic jobs to actually workplaces. With men going off to war, many women have taken those mens jobs in their absence. In the nineteenth century women's rights were very limit, which started feminism. The feminist acts started as just proving and allowing that women are able to do all men can do within the workplace. Within the workplace, feminism developed to be about helping men and women with helping equality between genders, preventing gender roles and sexism. Feminism affects men and women equally in the workplace in a positive way. .
To start off, feminism prevents sexism. Sexism is the biased between the female gender. Sexism is also prejudice, stereotyping women and discriminating them. Sexism does affect women, especially financially, as women make seventy-seven cents to every dollar a man makes. In the overall statistics, the twenty-three cents is able to add up to ten-thousand dollars per year preventing women to support families, gain fewer opportunities to promotions, and fewer chances at higher-paying jobs. This goes over with the discrimination of not allowing for women to be equals, it gives men a higher sense of power even if a man and a woman have the same working position. Sexism is not focus on women, men are just as much as a target as women. An example of man being a subject of sexism is a female employer caressed her male employees hands and necks, as well as squeezing their buttocks. Women can also be predators and take advantage of their position just like men. With men and sexism, they tend to feel the need to put up with the abuse than to report their employer because of men are afraid of what their co-workers would say. Sexism discrimination does not have to be sexual at all, it could be also considered in a type of form of bullying.
