How to Become an Influential Leader


She, along with women who support her, formed a group called the Missionaries of Charity. Mother Teresa was a fine example of a leader in today's culture. Her profound ways of selfless and humble leadership has forever shaped the world. Mother Teresa's prime example of ethical use of power has become an example to those who have a great deal of persuasion in our society. Her example being, that one does not need money, power, an office, staff, or an unbalanced society to change the world. Instead, all that is needed is conviction, a heart of humility, and a life devoted to the common good. Mother Teresa burdened some lofty goals considering she herself was at the same place the people she was trying to help were: with no food nor money. She didn't think about herself though, she kept up her acts of selflessness and persevered till the very end. She proved that a little selflessness goes a long way. .
             Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, or more commonly known as Mahatma Gandhi, was an Indian nationalist leader. Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, Kathiawar, India, Gandhi was already showing great characteristics of a good leader. In 1893, he went to London, England to study to become a barrister, a type of law. From then on, he was continually opposing the segregation to Indians through non-violent, public outcries. He became one of the major political and spiritual leader that everyone followed. Mahatma Gandhi was an excellent leader. Gandhi displayed great strength, not physically, but mentally. As a leader, it is very easy to lose your will to keep moving forward with each passing day. Leaders need to motivate their followers, but how can they do that if they themselves are not motivated? As Mahatma Gandhi said so himself, "Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will." He helped the laborers in India escape oppressive taxation and discrimination, as well as the rights of women.
