Looking at the toys further more, I found that not only the color difference but sizing and packages were clearly noticeably different. Due to stereotypical views I noticed that the packaging for girl's toys were a lot bigger than most boys toys and they appeared to even so, have more toys in their section rather than boys. I feel like this may be factual since it is often said that women have more materialistic things growing up, therefore they need more toys. Examples are "LEGO Friends Olivia's House, " "Disney Princess Favorite Pink Royal Castle - Cinderella " and "The Exclusive Barbie Malibu Dream house " Girls are also taught to be elegant and that physical beauty is important therefore toys for girls would usually include tea sets, makeup cosmetics and even the most famous doll, Barbie. With Barbie's blazing good looks, thin figure and multi-facade career path, she is seen as the all American type of woman in our society. Many advertisers push Barbie to show young girls that Barbie is deemed attractive and that if you look like Barbie, then you are also deemed attractive too. Of course, the strive to look like Barbie in fact can be harmful and do cause eating disorders and low self esteem for girls. Probably leading to the fact as to why women in general have low self esteem in oppose to men. .
Boys toys on the other hand are quite the opposite, they are chosen by society the be the protectors and provided their toys are usually small and compact, toys for boys as you can see tend to stress violence and usually have more complex pieces. I also noticed that in some cases boy's toys challenged the mind and were not so aloof as girls toys were. There were more build-able items also train sets, I also saw more puzzles and mind games like "Loopz game " and "trouble " and the most popular "operation. " Clearly some of the mind challenging games can be played in a neutral gendered setting, then why were they only in the boys section? .
