One of the many was Bilbo Baggins, who gave the ring away on his 111st birthday night. Another was Boromir who on his adventure, had trouble staying together when the ring was in sight. Also the black riders had a very hard time with it and for all time will. In the Lord of the Rings there are many adventures that involve struggles. .

First, one of the struggles in the book occurred on Bilbo's 111st birthday night. He went back to his hobbit hole after putting on the ring and turned invisible. A few moments later Gandalf showed up at Bilbo's hobbit hole and they talked, but Bilbo started calling the ring "his precious". Then Bilbo claimed he would keep the ring because it is his and even put his hand on the hilt of his sword. Gandalf wanted Bilbo to do what he said he would do on their adventure years ago and give up the ring. Bilbo gives the ring to Gandalf after Gandalf explained what will happen to it and that Frodo will be looked after. This is the corrupting influence of power that the ring will put on you and the struggle that comes with it.
Second, as Boromir was in the fellowship he had a harder and harder time dealing with the ring. The first instance was at the meeting on what to do with the ring. He started an argument to wield the ring and use it against Sauron. He suggested that even when he knows the ring will do anything to get back to its master and has a mind of its own. Next, when Frodo fell over and dropped the ring, Boromir picks it up and finds it very hard to give it back to Frodo. Also, when he sees Frodo alone he talked to him and after they talked Frodo turned his back on him and that enrages Boromir. He tries to attack Frodo and take the ring. None of this was his fault, it was the ring messing with his mind. This relates to the small vs. mighty in the fact that the ring is so mighty it will trick you to do what it wants.
