Children have a hard time differentiating between what is real and what is not. Most children still believe that Santa Clause and the Easter bunny are real, so how can they differentiate between the real world and a virtual reality violent video game? Their youthful minds are still growing and it is hard for them to believe that the rules in the video game that they are playing, don't apply on the real world we live in. For instance, if a five or six year old is playing The Call of Duty, which is a violent video game that is all about shooting different guys in order to move ahead in the game, the child thinks that the game is no different from the real world, and he thinks that it is okay to shoot a random person in the street when actually it is completely un acceptable. Violent video games are like a brain washing machine for those little children who are supposed to be the future of the next generation. .
Being exposed to swearing and explicit language in violent video games is an enough reason why it is bad for children (John). In most if not all violent video games, the characters swear and scream whenever they are about to lose (John). No parents would want for their children to have a dirty mouth and cursing constantly. Also, when the children hear the characters, and in the case of the game they would be the "heroes " cursing constantly they start to catch up on them and have the same behavior. For instance, when a child or a teenager hears a bad word it will sink in his/her brain and be added to the constant words he/she always say because of the child's constant playing of this violent video game.
Most of the video games have a chat screen in the game so the participants in the game can connect and converse with each other and not feel left out while playing. Children can go on and on playing for most of their day without feeling the loss of connection to the outside world.
