Music, the Brain and the Body


            Your brain is the core of who you are and what you do in everyday situations. Having music may just be a way to stimulate your brain to new open ideas and more knowledge you didn't even know you had. When you feel stressed or are in need of getting away music is a great solution to zoning out of the world. With so many genres of music out today you probably are wondering which genre is best for your brain to be stimulated or relax you. Research shows that classical music has the best affect on stimulating the brain because of the relaxation and calm mood of the music. .
             In an article I read called "How does music affect the brain?" it started off talking about how music is said to influence the process of thinking, learning, analyze matters faster and work better. It also talks about how it can have a positive affect on your mood and attitude to listeners and give them a sense of motivation. In the article it states that listening to what some call "feel good" music while doing a challenging task can motivate them and make the task a whole lot easier and manageable to accomplish. In some instance music can help with academic success, having music in a school environment can help students overcome their mental block and to open up their mind and encourage students to explore different fields in education. The rhythm of music has been proven to help people in the subject of math "Music stimulates the areas of the brain that are responsible for your thinking, planning, and analyzing, thereby improving your organizational skills and making you more capable of handling challenging math problems." (Not given) Endorphins, which are "Any of a group of hormones secreted within the brain and nervous system and having a number of physiological functions." (Not given) studies suggest music can help the release of endorphins that aid in the healing process.
