Business Ethics Abroad

With the increased globalization, many companies enter the overseas market. There appear more and more international deals, projects and other forms of cooperation. Does it mean that it is enough just to know the general rules to run the business? It does not. The realization of the same project, for example, in the USA and Germany, has its own peculiarities. This is the first rule that should be considered by everyone, who is going to work with foreign partners and make a career abroad. The aim of this paper is to outline guidelines for best practices about business abroad. .
The managers often behave in a foreign country as in their native one. Even people with a big experience often believe that any business model can be adopted one-to-one. However, the difficulty lies precisely in the details. One should not yield to the popular belief that with the English language he will always open the road to each company abroad. Of course, it is an international language of communication, but in practice, businesspersons constantly have to deal with different mentalities. Even if the partners (let us say Italians) speak English, one should not forget that for them it is not native. The ability of the partners to speak the language should not be underestimated as an initial knowledge is enough just to create a favorable atmosphere. However, the nuances are also important - the success or failure of an international career depends on them. .
A range of cultural factors influences the development of business on the international scale. People are egocentrics by their nature; therefore, their behavior is often determined by the already established system of values. One should not attempt to impose his own vision on a partner; the business should be conducted using intuition. Of course, it is a big risk to rely only on the ˜sixth sense' but sometimes it is the best way out. Paying attention to other countries' values while running international business with will surely bring the success.
