Business Report - Healthy Foods Company

            
             Due to a current social shift in general eating habits within the UK, we have chosen to start our company 'Light Bites' dedicated to providing healthy cookery classes for kids. After public campaigns e.g. Jamie Oliver's school dinners and with saturation in the local market of sugar-based cookery classes there is a niche to provide a healthier option to the coming generations and allow them to make an informed choice in what they eat. We have opted for the Rosemount location to base our classes. There is a concentrated population with nearby transport links as well as a number of primary schools. This will help us target our specified market of 8 -12 year olds by making after school classes a more viable option. There is no car park, however, due to collections and drop-offs pay and display parking should be sufficient. .
             We have contacted Grampian council to enquire the set-up of a monthly two-hour class per year group in our chosen age range from the local schools. Considering the market research provided and some conducted by ourselves, we have chosen to charge £10.00 per hour per student. If unaffordable for all families, we have applied for a grant to help subsidize families interested but may not be able to fund this.
             Classes.
             Classes will be held every Mondays till Wednesdays on weekdays and on weekends. On weekdays, the school will be operating from 6pm to 8pm which is for 2 hours where the children learn to prepare a main dish. These class times gives opportunity for children who may have other commitments such as the private school children who have after school activities till 6pm. On weekends, the classes will be from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm on a Saturday whereas on Sundays the classes will only be held in the morning which is from 10am to 1pm. These classes last for 3 hours because it covers a 3 meal course lesson which includes starters, main course as well as dessert.
