My Life and Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

I perceive myself as an outgoing person, loving, kind, caring and friendly person. I am the kind of person who wears their heart on their sleeve. I am the kind of person who will go out of their way to help just about anybody. However; that trust can be taken away really fast if you do me wrong. Within the last year I met some really cool people that I met at the apartment that I used to live at. When we moved out of the apartment and into a house, they helped us move and we became really close friends. Within that time frame Angie and I started our doggie daycare/boarding business, and that really took off. Her and her husband Billy started spending a lot of time at my house. Billy was in the military when we met them and last March he ended up getting out and landed a job at Pepsi. They started eating dinner at our house every night and it really felt as if I had two more kids on top of the four I already have. I wouldn't have minded so much if they helped pitch in every once in a while for food costs. This went on for a straight year. Then they fell onto more hard times with their car breaking down. We let them use our truck for two months straight while Billy and my husband tried to fix his car. .
While this was going on, not once did we feel appreciated from them, by us helping them out. When he did finally get the car working and we got our truck back he fell into a deep depression and started taken something called triple c's, and he ended up in the hospital for overdosing. After this incident he didn't want anything to do with us again. This really hurt us because we did so much for him and Angie. Angie still continues to come over and work the business with me but Billy has had nothing to do with us for the past two months. We have tried to talk to him and tell him we are not by any means mad or upset with what happened. The only thing that we are upset about is that we felt unappreciated for everything that we did and tried to do for them.
