Examples of Political Deception

The irony lies in the fact that we wanted to aid in stopping Saddam from brutally torturing his people, but there have been many photos of soldiers including documented cases of waterboarding, and torture. This goes to show that through the personal agendas of this country their strategies and desires they entered Iraq will false pretenses and till this day the war is still not over, even with our current president who officially announced on August 31, 2010 that he was ending Operation Iraqi Freedom, but if this is the case why is it 2011 and we still have US forces still fighting and dying?. I'm going to end this example with another quote of Sun Tzu "Therefore, those skilled in war bring the enemy to the field of battle and are not brought there by him." .
My next example of deception comes from one of the most beloved or infamous presidents depending on how you look him Richard Nixon. President Nixon was the only president to ever resign his position due to his involvement in the "Watergate Scandal". On June 17, 1972 five men were arrested for breaking in the Watergate Complex which was home of the democratic party headquarters. When this occurred widespread speculation came about due to an informant who known as "Deep Throat" that made claims that the men who were arrested were linked to the Nixon administration; however, when Nixon heard this he stated it was all hearsay. The wheels of Nixon's fate began to turn when in July of 1973 one of Nixon's aides claimed that Nixon had a secret recording system that was recording all the calls that were being made to and from the oval office. Because of this Nixon had the aide fired and in turn the tapes were then subpoenaed, but Nixon refused. Finally the tapes were recovered, but there was eighteen and half minutes missing from the tape and the personal secretary of Nixon stated she accidentally erased part of the tape.
