America the Free - Legalizing Gay Marriage

Many people come to America for the chance to become an independent individual and enjoy basic liberties such as freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and most of all freedom to marry whomever they love. However, with laws prohibiting gay marriage in many states, many people never get to experience the American dream due to the various opposing positions regarding same sex marriage. Due to their religious views, opponents of same sex marriage believe the sanctity of marriage will be destroyed and mock societies' ethical views regarding what they believe to be moral or not.
Living in the "free world," many would imagine everyone having the right to marry regardless of gender to assimilate the idea into a social norm. However, that radical idea is not the case for many states in the U.S. that do not recognize same sex marriage as an actual legal binding ceremony. Some major groups that oppose the idea of gay marriage are exceedingly religious groups. Some of the well-known arguments include the idea that being gay is a sin and that in allowing those sinful people to be wed the sanctity of marriage will be ruined for everyone. What many of these devout religious people fail to realize is that everyone on this planet is a sinner. No one sin is greater than another therefore, people who love one another should not be unjustly punished for falling in love, and it is not like they can help who they love. Average human beings, even devout religious people, cannot help but to sin on a daily basis, which is why "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us for [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" "(1 John 1:19) meaning God allows repentance. Things like "A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren" (Proverbs 6:17-19) are all considered "an abomination unto Him" "(Proverbs 6:16).
