Current and Long-Term Effects of Smoking

Everyone knows that smoking cigarettes can lead to serious health problems, but a threat to health doesn't seem to be a good reason for quitting anymore. Smokers tend to ignore all the information that is given to them about the dangers of smoking cigarettes. Besides the possibility of developing lung cancer and dying, there are also a lot more effects that are caused by smoking cigarettes. These include damage to a person's hygiene, the bad smell that comes from smoking, and the actual cost of smoking cigarettes. The first effect of cigarette smoking is one that most people don't even take into consideration. It is bad for their hygiene. Cigarettes have been proven to make people's skin pale, and their fingernails yellow. Smoking also stains people's teeth, turning them yellow or brown. Since these effects are long term, most people won't even realize the damage that's done to their hygiene when they start smoking. The truth is that cigarette stains are very hard to remove from teeth, and it will probably end up costing a large amount of money to fix. Yellow teeth are disgusting because they make people look older and unhygienic, and that is caused directly by smoking cigarettes.
The second effect of smoking cigarettes is that the smell sticks to everything around it. Non-smokers will agree that people who smoke tend to smell like cigarettes because ig gets on their hair, breath, and clothes. Also, if they smoke indoors it will probably smell like that in their house. The smell of cigarette smoke is very strong and hard to remove. Even if the person quits smoking, the odor still stays there for a long time. The third effect of smoking is that it will eventually end up becoming a financial burden for the smoker. When people start smoking cigarettes, they keep buying more and more because it becomes an addictive habit. When people are addicted, they want to keep spending money on cigarettes, even when they understand the harm it can cause.
