The Ownership of Antarctica

Antarctica is like no other continent on Earth. It is one that many don't know much about but has so much to offer and should never be possessed by a nation. Antarctica should remain a continent un-owned and free for its natural purpose on this planet. It is a unique mass that is vital to our planet due to its natural resources and abundance of open land. From land to see it is home to a large diversity of animals native to this one continent that we have much more to learn about. Having the appearance of a large mass of ice it may shock many that Antarctica is actually considered a desert because it experiences no rainfall. And as it may be home to many species, humans are not on that list. Scientists from several countries have contributed their time and money for research but it is uninhabited. Some may say this leaves the land up for grabs but there is no need for people to migrate there and it is the last known land on earth that is still preserved and should remain that way. (Antarctica Ownership 1) Antarctica should remain open for research that is harmless to the continent but will provide us further knowledge of a mysterious land with much more to find. Because it holds most of the world's fresh water supply it most definitely should be preserved for years to come in case of an extreme emergency. This beautiful natural continent should be preserved the way it is so that it does not become like all of the other polluted modernized lands that we have all been fighting over for the past centuries.
A seal hunter from America, John Davis was said to be the first to discover Antarctica in 1820, who was confirmed to be the first human to set foot on the continent. Throughout the nineteenth century sailors from all over the world sailed to the coastal areas of this newly discovered continent to explore the shores but it wasn't until the twentieth century that explorers set out to find what was beyond these shores.
