Globalization and Developing Countries


            Globalization has become an irreversible trend. It can influence a country's development in politics, economy, and culture. For example, America can influence the political process of Iraq, Chinese could produce Nokia cell phones even if they are manufactured by Finland, and people from over the world can watch American movies. Globalization has become a part of our daily life. Globalization is also a double-edged sword, it also has negative influences, especially in developing countries. Some people believe that globalization brings market opportunities, and study opportunities to developing countries. However, others think that globalization could only peril in developing countries, such as depletion of resources, economic dependence on developed countries. Nevertheless, developing countries should not ban globalization to protect native economy. The economy needs the positive help brought on by globalization. .
             In developing countries, globalization could bring more benefits than harm. In the article, "The Noble Feat of Nike," by Johan Norberg, he pointed out that after 10 years, a Vietnamese worker who worked for Nike could finally afford to purchased a car (188). In addition, the author also thinks the investment from developed countries has allowed them to gained new machinery, better technology, new management skills, production ideas, and even market and educational opportunities (189). If developing countries accept globalization, they could obtain economic achievements. Developing countries lack advanced technology, and powerful financial support. Therefore, they need help from those more developed countries. People in developing countries can absorb the thinking, technology, and culture, while at the same time get more opportunities in the international market. .
             Globalization helps developing countries overcome poverty. That is because the developing countries can gain the investment through globalization from a multinational corporation.
