Golf Made Easier

As a player who just started last year, I understand the frustration level that comes with learning the game. Golf is a game of history - its origin is credited to many countries including Scotland, China, and Ancient Rome; dating back to the 1600's. Due to the amount of time it has been around, the traditions of keeping the game the same, soon started to become a problem to the future of golf- not enough people are playing! .
Statistics show that the amount of people who play golf has dropped 20% in the last ten years in the U.S.A. When the question was popped to the public as to why most people don't play, the answers ranged from, "it's boring" to "I don't have time" or "I'm not good at it."Today's society is one of instant-part of the frustration that goes into golf is the time commitment it takes. An average round of golf for a single person can range anywhere from 1.5-2 hours for nine holes and 3.5-4 for 18-putting making up a majority of the time spent as well as being the main score determiner. My dad always said, "Drive for show, Putt for dough." Meaning, if one plays in a competition, you're going to make the money on the green. Harvey Penick, one of the most renowned golf instructors, always said."Short game, Short game, Short game." So is a bigger hole the answer to a more satisfying golf game? This question echoes through the head of the CEO of TaylorMade, Mark King. .
Mark King announced the launch of "Hack Golf" earlier this year. The overall goal of this is to introduce new ideas to improve the fun in the game of golf as well as the participation in coming years. One approach was the Big Cup. It proposes to use a 8 or even 15inch cup rather than the traditional 4 1/4inch. Yes, the idea is not to take the challenge out of the game itself, but to make it more satisfying. At the end of the hole, it's much more enjoyable to be able to sink a putt rather than hit the ball and just barely missing the hole by an inch a couple thousand times.
