Management and Organizational Theory

Barbara Kellerman delivers what may be considered an ultimatum of why bad leadership occurs. She says, "Bad leadership is mainly a result of leaders behaving poorly because of who they are and what they want, and then acting in ways that do harm.".
This harm can be intentional or it can occur as a result of carelessness by the leader. I have worked at my current place of employment for four years now and I have done many tasks and many projects. I truly feel that the leader in my situations has been a bad leader, they seem to fit these two categories that Barbara describes and my leader tends to fall in one or the other depending on the day and the project at hand. I don't think he's a bad person but his intentions sometimes can put others needs behind his own.
The project I want to discuss is now managed by myself, however the first time this product was undertaken it was managed by not only a manager but also the stores owner. Myself and another colleague were tasked with the project of cleaning and organizing our warehouse; the stores warehouse is a large facility containing fixtures and displays use in the store throughout the seasons. This was a large project and it was planned to take four full workdays from 8 to 5 to complete when it was all said and done however it took five full workdays. Not because the project was too large but because the management of the project was bad. Will start with the planning of the project, the project had many weaknesses there was a lack of vision for the project; we were to simply just clean and organize the warehouse. We were never told how to organize it, was it by fixtures we use or by the seasons in which we use the fixtures and what about all the useless ones we never use? None of this was discussed in the initial planning; the questions were raised but simply dismissed by the manager. The plan only called for two people to undertake the project when fact it could've used four people this came evident after the first day and again it was brought to the attention of the manager and yet again dismissed.
